Information about the Orphanage Construction Project in Terrier Rouge, Haiti
Just after the devastating earthquake in Haiti on January 12th of 2010, Pastor Noel contacted us and asked us to help him realize a dream he has had for many years. He wanted help to begin building an orphanage for children who have no place to live. During our visit to Haiti in March of 2010, we were blessed to be able to witness the start of this home for orphaned and abandoned children in Terrier Rouge. Pastor Noel's vision for this home, which will be an on-going work of L'eglise Baptiste de Terrier Rouge, is to build several small homes on the property with one housemother and 10 children in each home. In October the first house was very near completion and the roof was being put onto the second house. The children of His House and their housemother, Madame Christian, have now moved into house #1. Madame Edma Almonord, who was chosen as the housemother of house #2, and 7 children have now moved into house #2. Plans have also been made for the construction of a chicken coop and the purchase of 50 chickens as well as preparation of a garden plot on the property. As more homes are built, housemothers will be selected for each one and children will be placed in the homes according to their need. (Please note - new photos have been added below!) As you are aware, we are a registered 501c3, tax-exempt, non-profit organization so donations made through His Hands are considered tax-exempt and we do issue receipts to all donors. Media attention has waned as time has passed since the earthquake and subsequent cholera outbreak, but we will continue to serve the pastors we have partnered with in Northeast Haiti long after Haiti has left the news and the last reporters have gone home. We have been working with our partners in Haiti since 2002 and we are in this for the long haul so we would appreciate your participation with us to help the pastors to help the people in their communities and, of course, to help the children in the schools. If you would like to make a secure online donation to help with the ongoing cost of earthquake relief, please click here! Please include a note in the Comments box telling us your donation is for Earthquake Relief.
Please join us as we pray for and help the people of Haiti. Thank you for your concern - His Hands Support Ministries
