His House ("Kay Li")

In April 2006, His Hands for Haiti rented a home in Terrier Rouge to provide housing for children who are either orphans or have been abandoned. This project, "His House" (or "Kay Li" in Creole) is being overseen by Pastor Apollon Noel. Madame Christian (Amaranthe St. Julien) is the housemother to the 11 children who are living in Kay Li.

Christian (front, left to right) Sovenie (since this photo was taken, Sovenie has left His House), Madiolene, Dachekar, and Mikendy. (Missing from photo - Louisa and Louinel, who were not home when this photo was taken)

This house is larger and safer than the home Madame Christian had been living in with several of these children.
Madame Christian and the children of His House will be moving into the new orphanage project around November 1, 2010.

This view from the side of Kay Li shows the high wall and iron gate that surround the back of Kay Li (left side of photo), keeping those inside safe from intruders.

Inside the gate, we see the back court where the "family" spends most of their time. The doorway in the center of this photo goes into the kitchen building.

Cooking for all these children is much easier for Madame Christian using Kay Li's kitchen.

The four rooms inside Kay Li are a big improvement over the one-room home Madame Christian had been sharing with several of these children. The walls have been repaired and painted and the indoor toilet is now in working order. The home is very comfortable for Madame Christian and the children. The large storage building has been turned into a big bunk house for all the children. There is plenty of room for all their new bunk beds with the mattresses they received from a very generous benefactor in the United States.

Please join with us in praying for the children of Kay Li and for Madame Christian as she fills the role of mother for these 11 children. His Hands for Haiti is sending regular, monthly support to Madame Christian to help meet the needs of Kay Li's kids. If you would like to help by making a donation, please contact us.
