Our October 2009 trip to Haiti took place from September 28th - October 14, 2009. Our team of 24 people from Maine, Utah and California was divided into 2 groups, most of whom stayed in Haiti for just one of the two weeks of the trip.
The Team - Week 1 (left to right) Ray Hulse, Laura Hulse, Kerri Luther, Kassi Luther, Steve Lamb, Aaron Jones, Karen Lamb (partially hidden), Angela Soliz, Philip Charles, Jamie Charles, Taylor Bell, Joani Bell, Mike Bell and Justin Elswood.
The Team - Week 2 (left to right) Brandon Prince, Justine Mullin-Garn, Steve Lamb (partially hidden), Aaron Jones, Mike Salazar, Jessica Salazar, Sheri Jones, Brittany Engel, Danielle Parris, Karen Lamb, Jamie Charles, Dana Snyder, Whitney Petrie and Kathy Farmer.
This 24-member team set an amazing record when they processed 782 children on this trip! The team also had an unusual number of "newbies" on this trip - 6 during the first week and 7 during the second week!
Week 1 "Newbies" just before boarding the MFI flight in Ft. Pierce, Florida. Yes, there really were only 6 newbies during the first week. Aaron jumped into this photo but this was actually his second trip to Haiti, so he's really not a newbie!
Week 2 "Newbies" just before boarding the MFI flight for the second week of the trip. As usual our primary purpose on this trip was to update the information on the children already in the Sponsorship Program as well as to add new children to the program. These next photos will show just how the job is done!
First we have to get to wherever we're going! Here's the team loaded up into the tap tap getting ready to go to Danda for the day.
And there are often times when the road to Danda gets to be too much for the tap tap so we rely on the oldest form of transportation - walking! But once we get where we're going, it's all work and no play for us!

Sometimes even the goats seem to want to get involved in the process!
And even though it's a lot of work, there's usually an opportunity for a bit of a break to enjoy the company!
Or even do a little language study!
And of course we always manage to find some time for team members to spend some time with their sponsored children.

And there's always a little time for just hanging out with our Haitian friends and having fun and eating fantastic Haitian food!
All in all, it was another wonderful trip to Haiti with a fantastic team of people! We'll leave you here with this beautiful shot of the Citadelle - one of Haiti's magnificent wonders! (Photo by Steve Lamb)
