Roche Platte, Haiti L'eglise Baptiste de Roche Platte has about 360 members who are doing their best to be a light in a very dark place. Roche Platte (or "Flat Rock" in English) is an area with a lot of voodoo activity.  (left) A view inside the church building of L'eglise Baptiste de Roche Platte, which is still under construction  Pastor Kenth Jacques has been the Pastor in Roche Platte for 7 years. He is also a member of L'eglise Baptiste in Terrier Rouge and he and his family live in Terrier Rouge. His wife is a teacher at the school of L'eglise Baptiste in Terrier Rouge.  The community of Roche Platte is just a couple of kilometers farther down the road from the community of Juchereau. Roche Platte has a population of approximately 1,500 people and is located in a very remote, rural area.
 This view inside one of their classrooms shows their desks which are clearly marked with the Plan International logo, showing that they were donated to the school by that organization.  These children are getting water from the well on the property of the church and school. In March of 2007, 50 children from the community of Roche Platte were added to the Sponsorship Program of His Hands for Haiti. |
